Development in Hungary
The Hungarian Cricket Association hosts several cricket competitions throughout the year. We are actively working to develop women's cricket by offering coaching sessions and establishing teaching programs in local universities and schools. Our Vision 2024–2026
Our strategic vision for 2024–2026 focuses on establishing a strong, inclusive foundation for cricket in Hungary across all age groups and genders:
- Launch the Hungarian National Women’s Cricket Team
- Establish youth cricket clubs across the country for both girls and boys
- Organize school championships and a national youth league
- Increase participation of native Hungarian players in the men's, women’s, and youth national teams
- Integrate cricket into Hungary's Physical Education (PE) teacher education system
- Train future PE teachers and sports organizers in delivering cricket education in schools, in cooperation with the Hungarian Government
- Introduce a 30-credit cricket course, the CRIIIO Cricket Program, and a Cricket Coaching Bachelor Degree
- Host ICC Level 1 umpiring and coaching courses
- Build a pathway for cricket to become part of Hungary’s official Physical Education curriculum by 2028
Development Goals & Initiatives (2024–2026)
To achieve our vision, the Hungarian Cricket Association will undertake the following initiatives:
- Participate in nationwide Sportágválasztó (Sport Selection) programs
- Host Mini Cricket Festivals in Budapest, Sződliget, and Csongrád-Csanád County
- Establish women’s cricket training and clubs nationwide
- Introduce cricket in schools and universities throughout Hungary
- Organize international tournaments for the National Women’s Team and Youth Team
- Launch a national inter-university cricket tournament
- Register at least 10 youth cricket clubs across the country
- Establish a Cricket Coaching Bachelor Degree Program at the Hungarian University of Physical Education
- Launch a 1-semester cricket course at:
- Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (Budapest)
- University of Szeged
